Modeling a Microphone
In this modeling exercise you’ll learn a technique for creating the cage of a microphone. To fully capture the realism of how these metal wires are interwoven, we’ll need to make sure the spacing between them compresses on the sides of the cage. So we’ll use a handful of modifiers to help us create a flat metal mesh first and then wrap it in a sphere, and this will give us the desired results. Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Vertex Groups
- Cast Modifier
- Bezier Curves
- Subsurf Modifier
- Screw Modifier
And as always, if you have any questions about the tutorial you can email me.
